About Kerry Fisher

Born in Peterborough, Kerry Fisher studied French and Italian at Bath University, followed by several years working as an English teacher in Corsica and Spain before topping the dizzying heights of holiday rep and grape picker in Tuscany. She eventually succumbed to ‚getting a proper job’ and returned to England to study Periodical Journalism at City University. After two years working in the features department at Essentials magazine in London, love carried her off to the wilds of the West Pennine moors near Bolton. She now lives in Surrey with her husband (of whisking off to Bolton fame), two teenagers and a very naughty lab/schnauzer called Poppy. Kerry can often be seen trailing across the Surrey Hills whistling and waving pieces of chicken while the dog practises her ‚talk to the tail’.

Kerry has spent half her life talking about writing a novel, then several years at Candis magazine reviewing other people’s but it wasn’t until she took some online courses with the UCLA (University of California) that the dream started to morph into reality, culminating in the publishing of The Class Ceiling. The Avon imprint of HarperCollins picked it up and retitled it The School Gate Survival Guide, published summer 2014. Her second book, The Island Escape, came out in May 2015. It won first prize at the York Festival of Writing for the opening line: ‚I was wearing the wrong bra for sitting in a police cell’.

Best advice ever received: ‚This is fiction, we can skip the boring bits.’ Lynn Hightower, UCLA Writers’ Program.

What Cathy says:

I’m so excited about the launch of my new series Wickham Hall this month; it introduces a brand new set of characters and a beautiful new setting in a stately home just outside Stratford-upon–Avon. It’s a story of love and friendship, family secrets and heartache and ultimately learning to love life and live for the moment! I’ve packed the story full of my favourite things such as the English countryside, exquisite gardens (including topiary – I adore topiary!), weddings, summer festivals, lots of tea and cake, bonfires and Christmas parties!
The series will be published digitally in four parts this year and then in a complete novel both digitally and in paperback in 2016:
Wickham Hall Part One – Hidden Treasures 25 June
Wickham Hall Part Two – Summer Secrets 23 July
Wickham Hall Part Three – Sparks Fly 24 September
Wickham hall Part Four – White Christmas 26 November

And here is this gorgeous cover!

It’s lovely, isn’t it?

Holly Swift has just landed the job of her dreams: events co-ordinator at Wickham Hall, the beautiful manor home that sits proudly at the heart of the village where she grew up. Not only does she get to organise for a living and work in stunning surroundings, but it will also put a bit of distance between Holly and her problems at home.

Holly loves the busy world of Wickham Hall – from family weddings to summer festivals, firework displays and Christmas grottos. But life isn’t as easily organised as an event at Wickham Hall (and even those have their complications…). Can Holly learn to let go and live in the moment?

After all, that’s when the magic happens…

Cover Reveal + Author Interview: 7 Years Bad Sex by Nicky Wells

23 kwi

„7 Years Bad Sex” must be one of the best titled books ever and I literally can’t wait to read it! I will be a part of the Blog Tour soon, but today I have for you Cover Reveal for this brilliantly sounding story. Moreover, I am able to share the first part of interview with Nicky (two more parts coming soon!), and there is also some news on a giveaway! So drum rolls, please, because here it is:

7 Years Bad Sex

One wedding. One curse?  Disaster ever after…

A seven-years-bad-sex curse? Surely not! Yet something went wrong when rock singer Casey and drummer Alex got married on that beautiful yacht anchored off St Tropez in the south of France. Something went badly wrong. For even on their wedding night, the young couple discovers a complete and somewhat surprising inability to make love. Muddling through their honeymoon with a string of thin excuses for their predicament, the lovers defer finding a solution (and panicking) until the return to their home in London. After all, they married for life and to make rock music, not for the love of sex. Right?

But when they resume life as normal in London, all hell breaks loose. Increasingly frantic in their quest for release, the unhappy newlyweds embark on a string of hilarious and occasionally harmful antics that drives them, their band, and an assortment of random strangers to the brink of despair. But it ain’t over ‘til it’s over or, in this case… it ain’t over ‘til the newlyweds sing.

Q &A WITH THE AUTHOR (PART 1)

1. Can you please introduce yourself to our readers, together with a thing or two that we didn’t know
about you?

My name is Nicky Wells, and I’m a terminal rock addict. LOL! Well, what can I say? I have a thing for golden-voiced bad boys with long hair and a magical stage presence. Favourites include Bon Jovi, Europe and FM, but the list is long. I write books about rock musicians and their love lives. Sometimes, these books are fairy tales; you know, girl-next-door-meets-mega-rock-star and what happens next? And sometimes, like with 7 Years Bad Sex, the books are about people who happen to be rock musicians and their love lives. When I’m not writing, I’m a mum of two, a wife, daughter, random knitter, erratic cook, and occasional radio presenter. Two things you probably didn’t know about me is that I have a fear of feet, and I once travelled across Germany on board a rock band’s tour bus.

2. Why writing books, and what would you do if you weren’t writing?

Writing is a compulsion for me. A necessity, like breathing. I’ve always written in some form or other–even in a previous professional life, I ended up writing books, albeit business books. There are all these stories in me that are desperate to come out, and I feel I would surely burst if I didn’t put them on the paper. Plus I love reading, and when I get really carried away with my stories, it’s like I get to read a brand new book for the first time even while I’m creating it. That probably sounds weird, but there it is. What would I do if I weren’t writing? In an ideal universe? I’d front a rock band. However, as I’m not all that good at singing–check it out for yourself here:

–I think my alternative career might be teaching. I’m actually a qualified primary school teaching assistant, another random fact about me you probably didn’t know.

3. Please tell us what hides behind one of the most promising, exceptional titles of your new book „7 Years Bad Sex”?

7 Years Bad Sex is the story of a young, newly married couple who lose the ability to get romantic after a toasting mishap during their wedding day. Even whilst on honeymoon, they discover that their sex life has sadly ceased to exist, but they cannot comprehend why. When they get back to London (and to ‚normal’ life), they try all manner of tactics, tricks, and strategies to breathe life into their ailing romance. My favourite scenes involve an array of toys, a certain dress, and a series of housing related disasters. Oh, and a restaurant called Peter’s Place. You’ll laugh and cry and feel the frustration! The idea came to me during a rather drunken dinner party when I failed to make eye contact with someone who was toasting me. I was told that this would bring me 7 Years Bad Sex (it hasn’t just for the record!) and the idea for the book was in my head in all its technicolour glory!

So as Octavia watches her best friend’s marriage break up, it starts her thinking. What if life could be different? What if she could escape and get back to the person she used to be? Cover Reveal: Conditional Love by Cathy Bramley

Conditional Love Cover Reveal Copy

I am thrilled to announce that a new ebook* edition of CONDITIONAL LOVE is being published by Transworld on Friday 5th December.

I first published CONDITIONAL LOVE myself on Amazon in October 2013 but now it has had the full Transworld treatment.

It is essentially the same story, with the same characters and the same happy ending. So what is different about it?

Well, I feel like my writing has developed since I first wrote it almost two years ago and so when Transworld very kindly gave me the opportunity to re-write it, working closely as usual with my editor, Harriet Bourton, I jumped at the chance. I took on board her editorial comments, sharpened up the narrative, tweaked some of the characters and generally I’ve given the book a more punchy, fast-moving feel.

I asked Harriet to share her thoughts about this new edition of the book in her own words:

I first read CONDITIONAL LOVE before I’d met Cathy. I’d seen her on Twitter talking to bloggers I follow and I was impressed by her cover for the book and the reviews she had, so I bought it and started reading. That one casual purchase led to Cathy’s deal with Transworld and a creative, fun and rewarding new author relationship. Some happy months later, Cathy and I set about looking at CONDITIONAL LOVE with a fresh eye. I thought the novel was wonderful, full of Cathy’s trademark warmth, comfort and good humour, but being an editor we can never leave well enough alone, and I had some ideas for how Cathy could squeeze even more out of the story. The heart of the novel is still the same, and the over-arching plot and characters too, but I think of this new refreshed edition of CONDITIONAL LOVE as being the high-definition version: brimming with colour and romance, sharp witted and lively from beginning to end, and impossible to resist once you’ve taken a glance!

I am delighted with what Harriet and I have achieved together this year and I hope readers will approve too. And of course the most exciting bit— is the sparkly new cover!

I must admit I was a bit nervous about having a new cover; I’ve had so much lovely feedback from people about the old cover with the red umbrella. But I needn’t have worried. Illustrator, Kate Forrester, who has designed all the Ivy Lane and Appleby Farm covers, has done an amazing job and honestly can’t stop looking at the new look CONDITIONAL LOVE.

What do you think?!

*with a paperback edition to follow in 2015

Conditional Love by Cathy Bramley

 BLURB

A takeaway, TV and tea with two sugars is about as exciting as it gets for thirty-something Sophie Stone. Sophie’s life is safe and predictable, which is just the way she likes it, thank you very much.

But when a mysterious benefactor leaves her an inheritance, Sophie has to accept that change is afoot. There is one big catch: in order to inherit, Sophie must agree to meet the father she has never seen.

Saying ‘yes’ means the chance to build her own dream home, but she’ll also have to face the past and hear some uncomfortable truths…

With interference from an evil boss, warring parents, an unreliable boyfriend and an architect who puts his foot in it every time he opens his mouth, will Sophie be able to build a future on her own terms – and maybe even find love along the way?

Cathy Bramley – Author Bio

Cathy Bramley is the author of the best-selling romantic comedies Ivy Lane, a four-part serialised novel (Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter), and Conditional Love. Both are being published as paperbacks in 2015. She lives in a Nottinghamshire village with her husband, two daughters and a dog.

Her recent career as a full-time writer of light-hearted, romantic fiction has come as somewhat of a lovely surprise after spending the last eighteen years running her own marketing agency. However, she has been always an avid reader, hiding her book under the duvet and reading by torchlight. Luckily her husband has now bought her a Kindle with a light, so that’s the end of that palaver.

Cathy loves to hear from her readers. You can get in touch via her website www.CathyBramley.co.uk Facebook page Facebook.com/CathyBramleyAuthor or on Twitter twitter.com/CathyBramley
